There are times when you get a golden idea and just have to put it down on paper to see if it will work out. Often times these initial ideas evolve into something quite different from the original. In the case of this little gem this is exactly what popped into my head when I heard about Google's plans not to censor their search engine in China. I chuckled a bit in my head and got to work on it. I used this idea to work on my digital coloring.

Yes, I know there are certain cardinal rules about using dragons to represent China usually apply, but I couldn't hold back on this one. Dragons are always fun to draw and I don't think the illustration would be as funny without the dragon. It's so absurd that it seems okay to break the rule just this once. The stripes on the socks are the colors Google uses for their logo so that's how I tied that in. I hope you like it, cheers.

I've had the great honor of being asked by Dice Tsutsumi to contribute to the Sketchtravel project. Only a handful of artists have been asked to be a part of the sketchbook and I am extremely humbled to say the least. The list of artists involved can be found over at the Sketchtravel website along with the story of how it came to be. I can't show my contribution yet but as soon as I'm allowed to you'll be the first to see it, well, maybe not the first but surely one of the top 20.

Everybody loves a robot painting and I've been neglecting my poor robo friends for some time now. I thought I'd get back painting in the landscape watercolor Moleskine and this is what it yielded. Also, I know I've promised big things and I haven't forgotten that. I've been asked to participate in something huge and I can't wait to tell you all about it, but I can't just yet. The plot thickens! I'm sure I'll be back soon enough as I've been working a lot in the sketchbook. Cheers everyone!

Yes, I know how long it's been and believe me when I tell you there's a big payoff somewhere down the line. I do have more to show but I feel good about this little sketchpage and think it can stand on its own for now. Pretty soon I'll have a shop up so I'll be selling prints of my sketchbook pages and illustrations as well as original screen prints on vintage book pages. I still have work from my gallery shows as well so if you're ever interested in owning an original sketchbook page from that series feel free to drop me a line. I still contemplate selling my sketchbooks but I don't feel like the time is right. I'm sure the time will come when I'll be able to let go of them. I hope all is well and I'll be posting news soon. Cheers!
